Kevin Uretsky has been one of the most recognizable members of the local television media for fifteen years. After a long and successful run as a sports anchor, Kevin joined KAPP/KVEW Local News as a news anchor in the spring of 2006. Kevin co-anchors Good Morning Northwest from 5:30-7 AM each weekday and also anchors KAPP/KVEW Local News at 5:00 PM and Local News at 6:30 weekday evenings. He does play-by-play for KAPP/KVEW's broadcasts of Tri-City Americans hockey games and serves as the host of the station's monthly "Americans Insider" show. Kevin also helps host the station's broadcast of the Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association as well as the Children's Miracle Network's two day event each May. Kevin has been honored by the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists and in 2004 was the dedicated honoree at the Pasco Invite track meet, the largest single day high school track and field event in the United States. He has also been nominated several times for the Central Washington Sports Hall of Fame and was honored in December 2005 by the Tri-City Americans, who held "Kevin Uretsky Night" to say thank you for Kevin's help in keeping the team in the Tri-Cities in the spring of that year. The Tri-Cities Republic newspaper also named Kevin its media personality of the year during the ceremony. Kevin has lived in the Tri-Cities since 1992 and enjoys trying to stay competitive and active in all sports. He was a member of the undefeated Tri-City Rattlers semi-pro football team which won the 2004 Inland Northwest Football League championship and can often be found participating in several local charity golf events every year, although as a golfer, Kevin makes a good broadcaster. Kevin is a native of Freehold, NJ and graduated from American University in Washington, DC with a BA in Communicatons-Broadcast Journalism in 1989. Prior to his arrival in the Tri-Cities, Kevin was a sports anchor at WBNG in Binghamton, NY and through his years here has also spent time as a radio talk show host and newspaper columnist. During his down time Kevin enjoys spending a lot of time with his children and rooting for his favorite sports teams--the Giants, Mets, Knicks, and Rangers. After all, you can take the "boy out of New York", but you can't take "the New York out of the boy."
