YAKIMA -- The Yakima Regional Clean Air Authority wants someone to answer for some breathing problems residents experienced late September. To prevent wildfires like these, the U.S. Forest Service ignited 2,000 acres of controlled burns in the hills just east of Yakima. The wind picked up and spread smoke and respiratory distress across Tieton, Selah and Yakima. The agency has sent the Naches Ranger District a notice of violation as a way to avoid this is in the future.
