YAKIMA -- A referendum to block the "Everything but Marriage" law, won't be getting financial support from one local church.

The Washington Values Alliance is one group trying to gather more than 120-thousand signatures. It needs them to place R-71 on the November ballot.

R-71 aims to repeal the Everything but Marriage law approved by lawmakers. The Catholic Diocese says it doesn't have the money to get involved.

"Certainly we would be supportive of any parishes that support signature gathering, but our resources are limited, and we think the more important issue will be the question of gay marriage," says Rev. Robert Siler.

Christian Broadcasting of Yakima says it will help with petitons, but hasn't received them yet. R-71 supporters have until July 25th to turn in signatures.
