If you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life or to give to your community, here is your chance. The summer 2013 Volunteer Advocate Training for the Support, Advocacy & Resource Center (SARC) will be held from July 22nd, 2013 through August 11th, 2013 for a total of 32 hours. SARC is in great need for volunteers at this time, especially bilingual, Spanish speaking, volunteers!
The Support, Advocacy & Resource Center is a non-profit, United Way agency serving Benton and Franklin counties. We provide crisis services and prevention education for community members on issues regarding sexual assault/abuse and all non-domestic violence crimes such as child abuse, elder abuse, assault, homicide, robbery, identity theft and fraud. SARC relies on community volunteers to help run its 24-hour hotline. The volunteer advocates only respond to calls regarding sexual assault/abuse. It’s easy and you can do it from the comforts of your own home. To be an on-call crisis advocate, all you need is a cell or home phone number and the answering service connects you to the caller. Or, if you are able and willing to meet with clients face to face, you can sign up be an on-call hospital advocate. This 32-hour training is designed to give volunteers the tools they need to work with victims and their families.
For more information on the many ways you can volunteer, please call Renee Blackman at (509) 374-5391 or email email@example.com to find out how you can make a difference.
