TRIOS Health employee fired for misappropriating $11,500 of public funds

A TRIOS Health employee was fired after allegedly spending thousands of dollars with her company credit card on personal expenses.

These expenses included airfare, veterinary care, personal cell phone service and fuel.

An investigation into the employee’s spending started shortly after the hospital’s chief financial officer notified the Washington State Auditor’s Office about a loss of money on Mar. 1, 2016, according to a Monday news release.

It found the former employee misappropriated over $11,500 via personal use between October 2015 and February 2016. The employee was a purchasing agent for TRIOS at the time.

Public health officials filed a report with the Kennewick Police Department, which is currently investigating the case.
