Over 250 firefighters can be seen scrambling through buildings in full gear, or at the Yakima Convention Center jotting down notes.
It's part of the annual firefighter training conference.
Firefighters from as far west as Seattle, to Spokane are brushing up on and even learning new techniques from their peers when it comes to certain fire situations.
Today, firefighters are learning how to effectively rescue someone in a building without any windows or lighting -- to simulate heavy smoke during a fire.
One student says every firefighter should take part in a training conference every year.
"It's a great opportunity to learn, where there's actually no fires," said Wahkiakum County firefighter Tom Hammonds, "You get to meet your brothers, your sisters, we have a few of them too. It's really good training."
The conference runs through Wednesday.
