While most seniors at Pendleton High School are prepping for tomorrow's graduation ceremony, the girl's softball team has its focus on something else that's also taking place tomorrow.

The team will head to Corvallis, OR for the 5A State Championship game that will take place just hours after graduation, meaning the seniors on the team will miss the ceremony.

The girls don't seem to be too upset it though.

"I feel like everyone graduates and everyone has that memory but our memory is going to be different," said Evangelina Olivera, shortstop. "I feel like it will stand out more."

So instead, the school will bring graduation to them and Pendleton High School Athletic Director Troy Jerome has the perfect plan following the game.

"They'll have their announcer do it, it won't be me on the microphone. It'll be like a regular graduation," said Jerome. "They'll walk to home plate, give them their diploma and shake their hands.")

The girls said they share a sisterhood with their teammates and they couldn't think of anyone they'd rather share that special moment with.

"I've played with these guys for most of my life, these girls have become my sisters, so I'll be out there with family," said Lindsey Roach, first base.

I asked if the pressure was on to win the big game.

"There definitely is pressure to win because we obviously want to graduate as winners but it's just a game," said Olivera.

The lady Buckaroos said they'll do what they do in every game, stay cool and remain focused.

"Basically, do it for my team and for us four seniors to get the win," said Hailey Kline.

"With the leadership, we can keep it together, keep everyone calm and go out there and win," said Reeghan Lehnert.

The girls are still in town tonight for their graduation dinner and they'll leave early tomorrow morning for Corvallis for their game against Putnam.

They may be Skyped in for the ceremony, which is three hours before game time.

From all of us here at Your Local ABC, we wish the lady Buckaroos good luck!
