Heritage Recognizes MLK Jr. Day
Heritage University hosts a Martin Luther King Jr. Event this morning for its students.
The celebration is part of Toppenish's MLK Jr. week and is an annual event put on by the school.
Guest speakers shared the history of the civil rights movement and songs shared throughout black history.
It's all part of trying to inspire students to be better individuals and help each other overcome adversity.
"No matter what or who you are, or where you are, you have to make the best of it," said guest speaker Latasha Larez, "You have to stand and make a voice and be heard. Make sure everyone knows you are a person, it doesn't matter what color you are, you are a person."
