Kittitas Fair and Rodeo in Ellensburg for Labor Day Weekend
"Love coming every year to the fair," said Ellensburg resident Marietta Coble
The food is served, the quartet is singing, and haunted houses are in full swing... The Kittitas County Fair has been a staple in the community since 1885. Although the normal fair attractions can be found-- one in particular caught the eye of Marietta Coble who is looking after her granddaughter for the day, enjoying the fact there are now games that involve more physical activity.
"I love seeing when they have like this water balloon here, there they have activities they have to roll they have to move--they get them tired , then you get them home tonight and they're asleep," said Coble
Games are a main attraction for the competitive spirit and this years fair features some free games for everyone. Test your throwing skills or take the wheel of some mini race cars.
If you're not into all that modern stuff-- you'll probably be joining these people at the livestock events. I caught up with one young cattle prodigy whose only 16, but he is a nine year veteran of the county fair game.
"It's just really fun getting to see them go from a small calf and you do all that work and get a nice end product its really big and that sells well," said Sam Slothower
Slothower recieved a blue ribbon for his steer 'Bo' placing fourth in his class for the handling portion of the livestock event. As the weekend rolls on more showcasing of the animals will take place with auctions happening Sunday
There's your run down on what you're going to see at the fair this weekend the rodeo also starts tonight at 6:45.
