State Receives $170,000 Education Grant
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Washington state has been awarded a $170,000 grant to support science, technology, engineering and math education. Gov. Jay Inslee on Thursday announced the grant award from the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. The grant also will support Inslee's launch of the STEM Education Innovation Alliance. Inslee said he has selected Gene Sharratt, executive director of the Washington Student Achievement Council, to oversee implementation of the grant programs and convening of the alliance group. Washington state was one of 14 states to receive the grant money.
