Pendleton Fire: Five Dead, Two Injured
A total of five people are dead, and two others injured after a Pendleton house fire this morning.
Pendleton Police have confirmed that of the five victims, three are young children, and the other two are adults.
It is not clear whether this was a family, or several families living in the same residence.
Pendleton Police Lt. Bill Caldera said they were notified of a blaze on 1220 Southeast Court Place at 6:12am. He said when police and fire arrived at the location, the house was "fully engulfed in flames."
The two people who are injured are both adults and have been flown to Portland area hospitals. Caldera said both adults remain in critical condition.
No further details will be released until next of kin has been notified.
Police and fire crews are currently investigating the scene. The 1200 Block of SE Court Place continues to be blocked off to traffic.
Pendleton Fire and Police were assisted by the Oregon State fire marshalls, Oregon State police, as well as the Boardman, Pilot Rock, and Umatilla Tribal fire departments.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
