A police pursuit just before noon today forces the middle school in Weston to enter a temporary lockdown.
It all started about 11:30 a.m. as the suspect, while attempting to elude officers, drove across the Middle School Athletic Field. Officers lost sight of the vehicle near the Middle School.
As a precautionary measure the Weston Police Department requested the Middle School enter a “Lock-Down” mode until officers could verify the vehicle and its occupants were not in the area.
At the time of the pursuit all students were inside the building and no student was in harm’s way. The Lock Down lasted for approximately 18 minutes.
The Weston Police Department is not the primary agency handling the pursuit however will be referring criminal charges for two crimes which happened locally. The first is Criminal Mischief for damage caused by the vehicle and Fail to Perform the Duties of Driver (Hit and Run).
