A Decision on Yakima's Panhandling Problem
After months of complaints and discussion, yakima decides to take some concrete action on the city's panhandling problem.
The city council voted last night to move forward with two proposed plans -- after some adjustments were made.
They approved a plan to go ahead with an educational campaign to discourage panhandling, the specifics will be discussed in subsequent meetings.
The council also voted to enforce new regulations at the 15 busiest city intersections, including banning people from receiving money at these locations.
However, the proposal to install giving meters through the downtown area was turned down.
