Labor Day "Thank You" Lunch
Olive Garden restaurants across the country will deliver and serve a special "thank you" lunch to their local fire stations, police departments or hospital emergency rooms for ongoing dedicated service on this Labor Day holiday.
Olive Garden in Kennewick served lunch at three local fire stations in Richland.
The lunch includes lasagna, salad and breadsticks, a meal the restaurant said they chose because they didn't want to leave any firefighter hungry.
Firefighters said they are happy to serve the community and it's always nice to get a little recognition for it.
"This is great, having a local restaurant in the community come by the station and drop something off for us on a day like today, labor day being the holiday and all, it's a great opportunity for us to have some great food and it takes a little bit of the work off of us having to prepare lunch," said Ryan Birkhimer, a firefighter at Station 71 in Richland.
This is the restaurant's 12th consecutive year of delivering lunches on Labor Day in local communities.
