Sand pile collapses, kills 7-year-old boy near Roslyn

A 7-year-old boy dies Wednesday afternoon after a sand pile collapses on him at his home near Roslyn.

Clayton Everley had been digging a hole in a small sand pile just outside his house when the sand collapsed on him, burying his head, arms and shoulders under the weight of the sand.

The child's parents found him, started CPR and called 911 immediately.  The father had an automated electronic defibulator (AED) in his work vehicle and attempted to use it.  Fire and EMS units continued life saving measures and eventually airlifted the boy to Children's Hospital in Seattle where he later died.
