Driver Fleeing from Troopers Crashes into Home, Injuring Teen
20-year-old Nathena Jim is facing several serious charges after she crashes her car into a mobile home, injuring a teenager and putting two others at risk.
State troopers say it happened around midnight along State Route 22 in Buena.
Troopers were trying to pull over Jim, when she ran a stop sign and crashed through a fence, rolling into a nearby home.
The family living in the home says a 14-year-old girl was thrown from her bed, suffering damage to her head, jaw, and chest -- she was taken to Yakima Memorial Hospital.
Two other children were in the same room, but were protected by some of the mattresses.
The driver, Jim, was treated for her own injuries and taken to jail.
One of the family members says the entire household was asleep when it happened.
"I was on the couch and i felt a little push," said the victim's cousin, Diego Martinez, "I asked, 'what happened, was there an earthquake or something?' I was in shock because my cousin was right there laying down, she hit her head on the wall, and her teeth, and she kind of had a rib [injury]."
The family says the victim was released from the hospital today and is recovering at home.
Jim is facing DUI, eluding, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment charges.
