Narrative
  The Yakima Fire Department responded to a reported structure at the 600 Block of South 17th Avenue on Tuesday 12:45 pm. Initial responding fire engines reported heavy fire on the west side exterior of a single story single family dwelling with a basement. There was nobody home at the time of the fire. Fire crews attacked the fire with multiple fire hoses and had to enter the home's interior to stop the fire in a bedroom and the entire attic.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the rest of the main floor, the roof and the basement. There was some smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the house.
What was the probable cause?
  The cause of the fire was related to a heating lamp on the exterior of the home. Two small domesticated animals perished as a result of this fire.
What was the extent of the damage?
  One side of the exterior, the entire attic and one bedroom was completely destroyed by the fire. There was some smoke and water damage to the interior building contents. The initial dollar loss is preliminary but it is expected to be higher after final figures are confirmed.
