Veterans Walk

Veterans in the Tri-Cities protested the government shutdown today that has closed war memorials in Washington, D.C.

Hundreds of veterans and supporters walked for two miles at Columbia Park in Kennewick this afternoon.

Many veterans held American flags as they walked along the water.

Veterans and supporters say they are walking to bring attention to the memorials and monuments that are closed in Washington, D.C. because of the government shutdown.

"In my belief, the veterans earned the right to have the veteran memorial. It shouldn't be taken away, it's not a toy. It was given to them by the American people. So with that said, it's not so much anyone's to be taken away, and they have every right to enter it" said Kelsey France, walk organizer.

Many veterans in Washington D.C. held a similar march today near the World War II memorial.
