"Tip-A-Cop" For Special Olympics

Law enforcement officers traded in their duty belts for aprons on Saturday.

Some greeted customers, others were bussing and waiting tables at Red Robin Restaurants in Kennewick and Yakima.

Officers volunteered their time, but they were hoping diners would leave them a tip for their hard work.

All money raised during the annual "Tip-A-Cop" fundraiser goes straight to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign, which is the largest grassroots fundraising effort for Special Olympics.

Yakima police officers say they raised a record amount of $5,425 during the event.
