Kennewick leaders to discuss waterfront revitalization project tonight
City leaders in Kennewick are holding a public meeting tonight to discuss a plan to revitalize part of the city's historic waterfront.
The Port of Kennewick and the City of Kennewick are teaming up to work on this project.
They are planning to revitalize the waterfront area between the Cable Bridge and Clover Island Drive.
City leaders want to create an area that includes a wine village, tasting rooms, shopping areas and room for entertainment.
They also want to improve the trails, signage and landscaping in the area to make it more of a destination.
"It's an area that's important to the citizens for the Port of Kennewick and the City of Kennewick in terms of an opportunity for economic development. It's an area that's had some public safety concerns in the past and so revitilization is really important to enhance that" said Evelyn Lusignan, City of Kennewick.
Tonight's meeting will be held at the Clover Island Inn at 6:30 PM.
There will be time for public comment.
