City Council Votes To Add More Police Cars
People in Yakima are going to see more police patrolling the streets in the near future.
Yakima Cty Council approved a proposal last night that will increase its current police patrol cars on the streets to 74 cars -- the city says there are currently up to 17 patrol cars out on a given day.
The cost of purchasing the cars is about 4.7 million dollars.
City Manager Tony O'Rourke says officers agreed to not take any cost of living pay increases over the next two years to make up for those funds.
