Teen rescued after being kidnapped, held for ransom

Three people suspected of kidnapping a 14-year-old special needs boy and held him for ransom near Wapato appear in federal court today.

The boy went missing Friday morning and several hours later, his father was contacted by the suspects demanding $120,000.  The ransom was later reduced to $80,000.

The FBI says the boy was later rescued, but authorities did not describe how.

Ernesto Martinez, Esmeralda and Yaritza Contreras allegedly kidnapped the boy from his home after telling him they were going to take him to a safe place.
