Armed Barricaded Subject Arrested near Ellensburg
Kittitas County Deputies attempting to serve a felony warrant for probation violations yesterday afternoon resulted in the subject barricading himself in a large shop armed with a weapon.
55-year-old Daniel Soules from Ellensburg, was arrested without incident around 6:30 AM this morning after a lengthy standoff.
The incident occurred at a residence 9 miles east of Ellensburg on Parke Creek Road east of Prater Road. Deputies learned that Soules was armed, inside the shop and threatened to shoot law enforcement and himself. The Kittitas County Special Response Team responded as well as the Ellensburg Police Department's special response team with their armored vehicle and other special equipment. Law enforcement spent the night securing the area and negotiating with the subject. The subject surrendered without incident. A 22 caliber rifle was found in the building however no shots were fired during the ordeal.
Soules was booked on the felony warrant and other charges are now pending.
