Kennewick City Council Approves New Firehouse
The Kennewick City Council Unanimously approves a measure to buy property on 10th Avenue for a new firehouse.
Council members say the new station will help reach the city's goal of emergency travel times of four minutes for emergencies and five minutes for fire. Currently response times are closer to eight minutes.
The property at 5500 10th Avenue, between Excelsior and Elder Avenues, will cost taxpayers about $276,000.
The fire department will be sending out a letter to several hundred properties near the location and holding open house meetings so residents can ask questions.
