Drive-by shooting injures woman in Yakima
A 23-year-old was shot in the arm and torso early this morning from a drive-by shooting at a home located on the 400 block of S. 7th Street.
When officers arrived at the home around 2 a.m., they found the woman inside the house bleeding from gunshot wounds. The wounds were determined to be non-life threatening and she was transported to the hospital for treatment. The victim did not appear to be gang related.
Little information was gathered; no vehicle was heard but several shots were fired from the street side into the front of the residence. Numerous casings were found in the street and bullets were retrieved from the house structure itself.
During the investigation and according to family members, it was learned that a family member of the address was a former Sureno gang member who no longer lives at the location.
The suspects have not been identified at this point, and the gang unit and detectives will continue the investigation.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Yakima Police Department.
