Over 1,000 Attend Cultural Unity Fair
Over one thousand people gather at Wapato Middle School tonight to celebrate culture.
It's part of the 31st annual Cultural Unity Fair, put on by the school.
Students put on various ethnic dances, while people got the chance to sample foods from different cultures.
Organizers say the event is meant to develop cultural unity and paint a positive picture about the town.
"When people thought of Wapato, they thought often of gangs, drugs and violence," said coordinator Erin Gonzalez, "So we're trying to showcase the good parts of our community, and I think this is a great demonstration of that."
The school says the cultural unity fair is one of the largest attended events in wapato.
