Five People Become U.S. Citizens at Naturalization Ceremony

Immigrants from five different countries took the oath of allegiance at Walla Walla City Hall with a member of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services presiding.

Walla Walla Mayor Jim Barrow offered the keynote speech, as several supporters were on hand to witness this morning's special moment.

For many applicants, getting U.S. Citzenship took quite awhile, but they are excited at the opportunities such a privilege now gives them.

20-year-old Adrian Tello, who immigrated from Mexico, says becoming a U.S. citzen will help him pursue his dreams of becoming a police officer.

Of the five who became U.S. citizens today, three immigrated from Mexico, one from Germany and another from the Philippines.

All of the applicants will make their home in the Walla Walla Valley.
