About a dozen nursing home workers in the Yakima area are heading to Olympia today to fight for better health care and wages.

They are joining the Service Employees International Union and about 50 other employees from across the state to try and convince lawmakers to expand medicaid coverage.

Workers argue that their wages are so low, they are unable to afford quality health care.

One worker says recent cuts have been affecting the quality of care nursing home patients are receiving in the area

"Every year, it's just more and more cuts, and less quality care for our residents," said Alice Pena, "You know, they have worked hard all their lives. They pay their taxes. They deserve good quality care."

Nursing home workers will be arriving in Olympia tonight, they will lobbying all day tomorrow.
