Kids Learn About Gun Safety
We told you last night about a Kittitas County gun store offering free gun safety courses for children as young as 5 and 6.
Last night, we attended one of the classes offered by the Brothers N Arms Gunshop in Ellensburg.
The class, teaches children about gun safety and how to handle a situation if they were to find a gun when a parent is not around.
One child says he is confident he knows what to do if he were to stumble upon a weapon.
"If you see a gun or if you find a gun in your mom or dad's closet or drawer, don't touch it," said 8-year-old Beckett Landon, "Leave the area and tell a responsible adult.
Other gun safety tips instructors offered to kids included; always assume a gun is loaded, never point a gun directly at a person, learn to tell the difference between a toy gun and a real gun, always make sure a responsible adult is around when handling a gun, And if you find a gun by yourself, don't touch it, let an adult know.
