Forum For Eisenhower Stadium Tonight

A community forum is being held tonight to discuss a way to move forward with improvements for Zaepfel Stadium at Eisenhower High School in Yakima.

In 2009, Yakima voters approved a bond issue to build two new high schools.

Track and cross country coach Phil English says about 4 million dollars of that bond was supposed to go towards improving the stadium, however, that money went towards unexpected costs.

English says it's important the stadium receives an upgrade, to attract more events to the area.

"I think Yakima lies in the center of the state, and it plays a key role in terms of sporting events," said English, "The events brought into Yakima are a huge money generator in terms of the local economy."

The community forum will be held at the Eisenhower High School Little Theatre at 7 pm.

District officials are expected to attend the forum.
