Airplanners Host Air Service Discussion
About 40 people gathered at the Yakima Convention Center this morning to give feedback on air service at the Yakima Air Terminal.
The session included a presentation by Airplanners on the current status of the industry and what to expect as far as changes coming to the Yakima Airport.
Participants expressed concerns with long lay-overs and the lack of flights going to and from the airport
"The only way they're going to improve that is to get more people to use the airline or to get the airlines to provide more aircrafts," said Eugene O'Dell, "They're going to have to subsidize the airlines to get into Yakima."
"We need to be a cheerleader to a point to say 'look, hold up the mirror, and where do you want to be?' said Airplanners President Kent Myers, "Because we have the tools, we really think that there's a lot more air service traffic [in Yakima] than is flying out of this airport."
Airplanners say no decisions will be made for the airport for at least a few more months.
