CWU Discussing Future of Chimp Program

Officials from Central Washington University are discussing the future of its chimpanzee program.

The Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute at Central says the school is deciding whether it wants to spend about 1.9 million dollars to remodel the program's building and bring new chimpanzees in -- or send the two remaining chimps, Tatu and Loulis to another sanctuary.

The sanctuary at Central opened in 1981, and has housed 5 chimps at one point.
