Crews Prepare to Close MLK Blvd.

City of Yakima crews are preparing to close down a section of Martin Luther King Boulevard starting Monday.

It will mark the beginning of construction for a multi-million dollar railroad underpass project.

The underpass is designed to improve driver and pedestrian safety, and improve response times for
Police, fire and ambulance.

However, one business owner says he is worried the closure will cause him to lose business.

"I'm thinking business is definitely going to slow down, and the access to my business is going to be tougher than normal," said Hometown Sportswear owner Dave Valencourt, "A percentage of business will probably go away unfortunately."

Construction is expected to be complete by fall of next year.
