New Hermiston Police Unit Makes Arrest
A new two person police unit makes its first arrest in Hermiston.
During the first night working together, Officer Joyce Wright and Detective Will Jons arrested a 19-year-old local man for multiple instances of graffiti in the area.
Jesus Eduardo Magallanes of 545 NE 7th Street #A was charged for his involvement with graffiti at a park back in March of this year.
In all, Magallanes was charged with three counts of Unlawfully Applying Graffiti, two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, and one count of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, Possession of Less than an Ounce of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Magallanes is being held at the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton.
Hermiston PD say they implemented the two officer unit earlier this week to proactively go after criminal elements in the area versus the traditional model of responding to calls for service.
Officials say the unit has the ability and range to work independently within Hermiston, but also out of the area.
