DNR files lawsuit to recover Taylor Bridge Fire supression costs
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) files lawsuit to recover the cost of fighting the Taylor Bridge Fire near Cle Elum.
The lawsuit against Conway Construction Company and Rainier Steel claims both companies were negligent by putting the public at risk.
Investigators found the fire was caused and associated with the cutting and welding activing taking place on the Bristol Bridge during a period of extreme fire danger last August.
DNR is seeking more than $5 million for the fire cost recovery claim, although the total cost to fight the fire exceeded $11 million.
The fire destroyed 61 homes and burned more than 23,000 acres.
