UPDATE: Employees return to work at Hanford's Vitrification Plant
Employees at Hanford's Vitrification Plant return to work today.
Many were sent home yesterday after low levels of radioactively contaminated soil were found underneath a bird nest.
All workers in the high level waste vitrification and pretreatment facilities were surveyed and no detectable levels of contamination were found.
Officials say there are no sources of contaminated material within the waste treatment plant boundary, so they say the source of the material is elsewhere.
