The Kittitas County Sheriff's office says bones found near Ellensburg are not those of Cody Haynes, a Kittitas boy who went missing almost 10 years ago.

Undersheriff Clay Myers says bones were found near a canal by a search team, investigators later determined they were animal bones.

Investigators were unsure of a small fragment, and sent it to Seattle to be analyzed.

The discovery was made after a party was brought in by the Haynes' family to search for any sign of the boy, who went missing in 2004 -- Haynes was 9 years old at the time.
