A Prosser man is out of a home after he loses control of an outdoor fire.

Firefighters say the fire happened just after 1 p.m. on North Griffin Road.

A man was reportedly burning some items outside of his house, when he lost control of the fire -- the fire spread to his motor home, then to his one-story house.

Crews tried to enter the home, but the fire had already spread to the roof.

"What happened here was then it got too dangerous to go inside because the roof started to collapse," said Prosser Fire District 3 Chief Doug Merritt,
"We're not going to risk firefighters lives for that, because we had some actual ceiling debris fall on one of the firefighters. So we backed everybody out and regrouped, let the fire get to a point where it's safe for us to go and start to extinguish it."

No one was seriously injured in the fire -- a damage estimate was not immediately available.
