Delta H.S. receives $250,000 for new building
Current and future students at Delta High School are a step closer to having a new facility.
This morning, Bechtel National donated $250,000 toward the new Delta High School project.
Administrators are raising money for a new building because they say the science, technology, engineering and math school is overcrowded and has plumbing problems.
The current school building is 40 years old.
Students say they are excited at the prospect of moving into a new school sooner rather than later.
"Right now, I'm just really surprised that we got the money, so we can put it more into more education, more classes" said Jesus Mena, student.
"From the point of view of what will it take to keep America great? To me the answer is very simple, it'll take educated youth" said Frank Russo, Bechtel.
The new building is expected to cost around $16 million.
So far, administrators have raised $870,000.
