Agriculture company prepares to expand, add jobs in Hermiston
A national company with a location in Hermiston plans to expand and add more than a dozen jobs to the community.
DuPont Pioneer, which is headquartered in Iowa, is the largest U.S. producer of hybrid seeds for agriculture.
Today, employees announced plans to double in size and add 18 full time jobs to the Hermiston location.
Each job will pay at least $50,000, bringing in nearly $1 million to Hermiston's economy each year.
"It does multiple things for our community. It helps to put our friends and neighbors to work. So it's increasing the job availability, and these are good paying jobs, 150% of what the local wages are. That helps to keep people employed, they're buying services in our community" said David Drotzmann, Hermiston mayor.
Crews expect to finish half of the expansion project this year, the other half will be completed next year.
