Sherman Alexie Book Will Remain At West Valley High School
An award winning book will remain on the reading list at West Valley High School in Yakima.
The West Valley School District Instructional Materials Committee voted Tuesday night to keep Sherman Alexie's book, “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian," in the curriculum for its upperclassmen.
The high school says book was originally approved for 11th and 12th grade students, but uninentionally found its way into 10th grade classes.
Anyone who objects to the committee's decision can appeal to the school board.
