Grandview School District Releases Statement on Volunteer Coach Arrest
The Grandview School District releases statement regarding Friday's arrest of volunteer coach Stephen Sanchez.
This morning, Superintendent Kevin Chase released the following statement:
"Mr. Stephen Sanchez, who was an unpaid high school volunteer coach for the 2012-13 season was arrested this past weekend for allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The district was notified of these allegations on February 19, 2012. Mr. Sanchez was relieved of his volunteering activities by the district on February 20, 2012 pending the outcome of the investigation.
Grandview School District is cooperating with local law enforcement with this investigation.
Since this is still an active police investigation, Grandview School District cannot comment further on this matter."
Grandview Police arrested Sanchez on Friday on two counts of alleged communication with a minor for immoral purposes and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The crimes allegedly happened between October 2011 and January 2012 at locations within Yakima County.
The victims in this case are female minors.
Sanchez posted bail on Saturday and was released.
