Potential WSU Chancellor

The second of three finalists hoping to become Chancellor of WSU Tri-Cities was on the Richland campus today to meet with students, faculty and community members.

Dr. Ronald T. Brown is currently Provost and Senior Vice President for academic affairs at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.

Brown earned his Ph.D. From Georgia State University and is a pediatric psychologist who specializes in children with chronic illnesses, attention deficit disorders and learning disabilities.

He says his desire to move to the Tri-Cities area is based on its growing population and increasing scope of research.

"Research areas around the STEMS - math, science, engineering; the wine industry and wine sciences; sustainable energy is an important area, and bio-fuels. I think that this is where it's going to happen," said Brown.

Last week, Karla Hughes from Morehead State University, another candidate for the postition, was at the Richland campus.

A third candidate, not yet named, will be at WSU Tri-Cities on February 28.
