Rod's House Fundraiser Tonight
Rod’s House, a resource center for homeless youth in Yakima, will hold its sixth annual “Raise The Roof” fundraiser Friday, February 1, at the Yakima Convention Center.
The event will include dinner, a video presentation about Rod’s House, and a silent auction. The proceeds will help keep the doors of Rod’s House open for homeless youth in Yakima.
Rod's House opened to serve homeless youth in September 2009. The facility provides hot meals, shower and laundry facilities, hygiene supplies, warm clothes, and referrals for services such as medical, dental, mental health and legal.
The staff also assists youth who need to re-enroll in school or find jobs.
The facility is open for drop-in services from 3 - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
During 2012 Rod's House served 293 homeless young people who visited a total of 55,087 times. The average age of those who visited the was 18-19.
Rod's House also helped 31 homeless youth re-enroll in school or GED programs in 2012.
