Fire Destroys Barn

A Saturday morning fire destroys a barn in Grandview, causing about $75,000 in damage. It happened on the 1000 of South County Line Road.

Release from the Yakima County Fire Department:

Owner reported that he was working in the shop when he smelled smoke. He found fire near the ceiling of the shop. The fire spread quickly throughout the building. On fire department arrival, we found the shop and immediately adjacent barn totally involved in fire. An aggressive defensive attack was utilized to suppress the fire and keep it from spreading to other adjacent structures. In addition to the loss of the barn and shop there was heat damage to three vehicles that were parked nearby. Yakima County Fire Stations #14 & #15 were assisted by an Engine and Water Tender from Benton County Fire District #3. There were no injuries. The property was released back to the property owner.
