6 People Escape Sunday Night House Fire in Yakima

Smoke detectors are credited with saving the lives of six people in Yakima.

Their home on the 1400 block of South 8th Avenue went up in flames around 10:20PM last night.  Firefighters say the two adults and four children had gone to sleep for the night, but were alerted to the fire by their smoke detectors.  They were able to make it out safely.

Firefighters responded and determined the fire was in the attic.

It took them about 3 hours to completely put out the blaze.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
