Last Minute Shoppers

Last Minute Shoppers

They're making their lists and checking them twice, grabbing any gift they can get their hands on, hoping it will suffice.

If you're not done Christmas shopping by now, things aren't looking too great for you, because the Columbia Center Mall is already closed.

Earlier today, it was a mad house.

Shoppers were out there right up until the doors closed at 6 p.m. getting all sorts of presents for friends and family.

Many of them said they're shopping last minute because they were too busy working, others say they've been shopping since Thansgiving, but that it really takes time to make sure you don't forget anyone.

"Doing last minute shopping, the mad dash to get it done to make sure we didn't forget anybody," said Maria Castillo. "Gift cards are the best but trying to find some good deals at the mall and last minute we're probably paying a heavy price for not planning."

But why so late?

"Couldn't get around to it just because I'm at work," said Miguel Ruvalcaba.

Some don't want to admit they are last minute shoppers.

"No we deny that, we are not doing last minute Christmas shopping," said Rich Holten. "We're out here just looking and we happened to find something to but is that last minute shopping?"

The most popular gifts seem to be books, clothes and gift cards.

Most of all, it's all about family time, or just a time to shop for oneself.

"We are getting even more in the Christmas spirit doing last minute shopping for us though," said Michelle Robinson.

"We've done our Christmas shopping now were looking for us," said Peg Robinson.

"It's fun, it's almost a tradition. We do it every year," said Rich Holten. "So we plan on it. If it's planned, we're not last minute shopping."

The mall is closed Christmas day.
