Students and staff at Yakima Valley Community College put together a large donation for children in need.

The school donated over 500 toys and $475 in cash to Toys for Tots, the U.S. Marine Corps annual toy drive.

The school also raffled off pies at today's event -- the highest bidders got the chance to throw a pie at a faculty members face.

All the money raised in the pie auction would also go to the toys for tots drive.

"I'm always surprised by Yakima, how generous this city is, YVCC is right on line with that," said Captain Jared Rains, "Every year we get contacted by more and more people who are trying to give us toys and help out, and YVCC started last year, they reached out to us, and totally volunteered. We really appreciate it."

Captain Rains says the toys and money will be added to other donations collected throughout the valley and be distributed to local kids in need.
