Ellensburg Ice Cream Shop is "Best in the Northwest"
A local ice cream shop in Ellensburg is the talk of the town after being voted the best ice cream in the Northwest.
Winegar's beat out 15 other independent ice cream companies in the region to win the top honors in an online voting contest by "Evening Magazine."
Some notable shops included Full Tilt Ice Cream in Seattle, Viking Feast Ice Cream in Poulsbo, and Elevated Ice Cream in Port Townsend.
One longtime customer we spoke to says he isn't surprised the shop has the best ice cream around.
"Most dairies are over here on this side of the mountains, and we can be every bit as skilled at making ice cream here as anywhere else," said Dale McPherson, "and evidently they are because... It's good!"
"We really do all of what we do just because of our customers," said owner Kori Winegar, "We listen to them, we change things when we have to, and we just do the best that we can to make them happy. They're the whole thing with this deal, we wouldn't be here without them."
The Winegar family says they plan on expanding their shop outside of Ellensburg in the near future.
