UPDATE: Victim in Yakima Shooting Dies, Suspect in Custody
A 22-year-old Yakima man dies after police say he was shot by a teenager during an altercation last night.
Police say Anthony Yocom died while in surgery last night after being shot near the intersection of Eighth and West Mead Avenues about 5:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police a 15-year-old boy entered a residence following the dispute and left, possibly carrying a gun. Police say witnesses also described hearing two gunshots after the suspect left the residence.
The victim then walked to a backyard near Seventh and West Mead Avenues and collapsed.
The suspect has been identified and was located and taken into custody this afternoon by police at a resident in East Yakima.
The juvenile suspect will be booked into the Yakima County Juvenile Detection Center.
